The Mid Hants Railway (MHR, also known as The Watercress Line) has confirmed that black 5 No. 45231 “The Sherwood Forester” has passed all tests successfully and will be running for the Pre-Spring Gala, only days before the gala takes place.
The railway had previously announced that 45231 might not be operational for the gala if the engine didn’t pass steam tests.
The team at railway have been working very hard and managed to repair 45231 in time for the Gala.
45231 will be running alongside both home fleet and guest engines for the gala.
