Residents invited to see plans for £2 million Compton Bridge replacement

Network Rail has invited the residents of Compton near Guildford to a drop[in information event to find out more about the £2 million investment to replace Compton road bridge, which is set to begin in April.

The current Victorian bridge has reached the of its design life and must be replaced to ensure the road and the railway, which runs beneath, can continue to operate safely.

This work requires the B3000/New Pond Road to be closed with diversion routes. This diversion will be in place from Monday, April 23 until Friday, July 13.

Rail replacement buses will be in place over the Spring bank holiday weekend, from May 26 until May 29, between Guildford and Haslemere.

The public drop-in session will take place at Shalford Village Hall, Kings Road, Shalford GU4 8JE on Tuesday 20th February between 4 pm and 7 pm.

What did the officials say?

Joanne Parkes from , said: “This is a really important piece of work, taking place as part of Network Rail's Railway Upgrade Plan, which will allow us to continue running a reliable service across this stretch of the network.

“We'd like to welcome all local residents to come along next Tuesday to find out more about this work and bring any questions they may have to the project team.”
