Whats new in 2018 at the Ribble Steam Railway

The , which is based at Preston Docks, Lancashire, has released information on events and exhibitions which are new for the 2018 season.

Opening in Easter 2018 is the Exploration Centre. See, from a bird's eye view the collection of Industrial Locos based on the railway.

Opening in Summer 2018 is the family activity area. Let the kids, of all ages, burn off some steam whilst they play in the rail-side play area.

Below are the different exhibitions to be found at the Ribble Steam Railway:

  • Easter 2018 – Women in Industry
  • Easter 2018 – Travelling Post Office (TPO)
  • May 2018 – FR20 The Oldest Victorian Working Steam Engine In The World Returns for a Rest!
  • June 2018 – ‘Arrival of the Sentinels' – A 50th Anniversary Celebration 1968-2018
  • June 2018 – Volunteering
  • New 2018 Family Saturdays – 19 May, 23 June, 21 July, 18 Aug, 15 Sept – join the railway to design your crazy trains, puppet making, and rail tales.

  • 14th and 15th April – Diesel Gala
  • 5th, 6th and 7th May – Bank Holiday Friendly Engines
  • 26th, 27th and 28th May – Spring Bank Holiday Teddy Bears
  • 16th and 17th June – Beer & Cider, Bikes & Cars
  • 23rd and 24th June – ‘Arrival of the Sentinels' Celebration Weekend
  • 14th and 15th July – ‘On The Buses'
  • 4th and 5th August – Tramway Weekend – Model Trams Event
  • 25th, 26th and 27th August – Mr Ribble's Friendly Engines Gala Party
  • 29th and 30th September – Steam Gala
  • 6th and 7th October – Diesel Gala
  • 27th and 28th October – Halloween Spooky Trains
  • 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 22nd, and 23rd December Santa Steam Festive Specials
