With Winter almost over (yes, long sunny days are almost upon us!), and with a busy Summer season planned, the have opened up posts for jobs throughout the Summer.

The intensive timetable will be in operation from Monday 28th May 2018 until Friday 7th September 2018.

This requires more trains, and more trains mean more staff. The KWVR has a number of Temporary Summer Employment opportunities.

Below we have listed out the details of the different departments you can be working for. Please note: you must only apply for one role only.

Stations Department

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway have 14 posts available in the Stations Department.

Duties for staff in the Stations Department include, but are not limited to:

  • Station Foremen*
  • Crossing Keepers*
  • Booking Office
  • On-Train Ticket Examiner (TTC)
  • Sales
  • On-train bars
  • Bus Conductor

*  – Safety Critical Role – employment is subject to a satisfactory medical.

Applicants will be expected to work a variety of these duties and will be rostered to fill in gaps where a job is not being covered by a volunteer.

The KWVR have two separate vacancies within the Stations Department, covering the roles outlined above.

  • Monday to Friday (8 Full time, 2 zero hours)
    • You will be working Monday to Friday. The Full-Time posts, the week will be on average of 30-40 hours a week, depending on duty and location.
  • Saturday and Sunday (2 Part-time, 2 zero hours)
    • You will be working Saturday and Sunday working the variety of roles given above. Hours for the part-time staff will be around 20 hours a week.
Commercial Department

The KWVR has 6 zero hour posts in the Commercial Department.

Duties for the Commercial Department will include, but not limited to, working at Oxenhope Buffet and Keighley Buffet and Shop. Providing high standards of customer service at all times.

The KWVR will also be providing a first class on board cream tea service during the summer and applicants will be expected to work as an onboard steward also.

Further details are available upon request. Applicants will be required to work a mixture of midweek and weekends as per the needs of the railway.

Carriage Cleaner

The KWVR has 2 Zero Hour opportunities in the Carriage Cleaner department.

Your day will start at 4 pm each weekday. You will be responsible for making sure the carriages are in pristine condition for the next days passengers. You will be cleaning the carriage both internally and externally.

Work will be between 4 pm and 9 pm Monday to Friday.

Training for any role

Training will be provided for any role in advance of you starting. If you don't have training, you must be available for training prior to you starting.

Rates of Pay

Below is the rate of pay the KWVR will be paying you, depending on your age.

  • 16-20: £6.00 (Current rate, currently under negioation)
  • 21-24: £7.38
  • 25 and over: £7.83 (Government Living Wage)
Accommodation

Free overnight accommodation at Haworth can be arranged if required ( Subject to availability). Applicants need to make sure they can travel between home and their rostered station. Travel expenses will not be paid.
