45407 arrives at Irwell Vale on the East Lancs Railway

To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Glasgow Highlanders Infantry Regiment, Black 5 No. 45407 “The Lancashire Fusilier” will be Renumbered and Renamed as No. 5157 “The Glasgow Highlander”.

The Glasgow Highlanders Regiment, also known as the 105th Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers, was formed in 1868.

The Regiment later became apart of the Territorial Force, still active today but renamed as the Territorial Army.

Throughout its active service, the Glasgow Highlanders Regiment has serviced in both World War 1 and World War 2.

History of Black 5 No. 5157

5157 “The Glasgow Highlander” was built in 1936, and carried its name for the entirety of its life, until it was withdrawn in 1962 and later scrapped.

45407 will receive 45157's Name and Number shortly and will carry them throughout 2018.
