With steam locomotive No. 41241's boiler back on its rolling chassis, progress has been made on fitting various components at Haworth Shed, on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

A slight set back has arisen with some parts of the boiler cladding being damaged when the boiler was lifted back into the rolling chassis.

The parts damaged have been removed, re-straightened and re-fitted to the boiler.

In order to fit the cladding, ratchet straps were used to hold down the panels, lining up bolt holes for bolts to be put in and tighten.

Once the cladding had been sorted, attention turned to installing pipe in the smokebox.

The main steam pipe has been fitted, along with other pipework onto the boiler.

When is this steam locomotive due back in steam?

Ivatt 2 No. 41241 is due back in steam in time to take part in the Keighley and Worth Valley Railways 50th Anniversary 8 day gala. It is due to haul a recreation of the re-opening train.
