Work on 2999 Lady of Legends' Boiler has been progressing well at .

Early January saw the Boiler undergo another Steam Test. This was to make sure the Boiler was still in good order, as the Smokebox had been reattached between the two tests.

The following day saw the Sacrificial Plate have a protective coating applied, to protect it against Corrosion.

The Plate fits around the Blastpipe and the inside admission steam pipes to the Cylinders.

 

 

 

Once the coating had been applied, the Sacrificial Plate was fitted into the Smokebox. First, the Plate was bolted in, to ensure it is line up correctly in Smokebox.

It will then be Riveted into place. As its name suggests, the Sacrificial Plate is designed to protect the Smokebox. It collects ash from the fire, which is removed from the Smokebox when cleaned. This ensures the ash doesn't corrode the Smokebox's Structure.
