More information released on Doncaster Railway Heritage Exhibition

Alongside the convention on February 10th 2018 about the proposed Doncaster Railway Heritage Centre. The “Making Tracks – The Next Stop” exhibition will be running in February and March.

Following on from the successful “Making Tracks” exhibit in 2017, Doncaster Council has announced a follow-up exhibit called “Making Tracks – The Next Stop”. This will include the Doncaster P2 Locomotive Trust and Doncaster Grammar School Collection holding displays.

One of the main displays will show the history and achievement of the engineers from the GNR and later LNER while working at Doncaster Works, known as ‘The Plant’. The Doncaster Museum Service will provide the display. It’s through their achievement that Doncaster’s connection to the railway industry is still strong today.

The Doncaster Grammar School Collection will provide artefacts in their collection to form more displays for the exhibit. The proposed plans for Doncaster Railway Heritage Centre will also be on display. Members of the Doncaster P2 Locomotive Trust will be answering questions about the plans. In addition to this, the Doncaster P2 Locomotive Trust will have a display about their project to built a Replica of P2 No. 2001 “Cock O’ The North”, a notable achievement by Doncaster Works when the original was completed.

When is the exhibition on?

The “Making Tracks – The Next Stop” exhibit will be held in Unit 78 of Frenchgate Centre with free entry. The exhibit starts on February 5th, running every day until March 15th from 10.30am till 4 pm. On the 9th of February, an official opening to the exhibit will be held, with local dignitaries and the media being present.
