Specially designed carriages tilt as it goes up the incline, meaning the floor stays level.

The Stoos Bahn took 14 years to build at a cost of 52m Swiss Francs, or £40 million.

In mountainous , where children regularly use cable cars to get to school.

If passengers feel a little fainthearted, you will be glad to know the journey lasts just 4 minutes.

But Ivan Steiner, spokesman for the railway, said the project's completion had made everyone “very proud”.
