South Western Railway has announced that passengers travelling on SWR train services can now claim compensation for Delay Repay if their journey is delayed by 15 minutes.

This is half of what the previous threshold was (previously 30 minutes).

Customers can apply for Delay Repay compensation using the online form (click here), or they can apply through the mobile app.

The app is available on Android, via the Google Play Store, or on IOS, via the Apple App Store. A paper form can be picked up from any SWR station.

Customers will receive 25% of the cost of their ticket if they are between 15 and 29 minutes late. Delays of 30 minutes or more will still be compensated at the previous rate.

What did the officials say?

Christian Neill, Head of Customer Experience for SWR, said: “We recognise that every minute counts if you're travelling by train. Especially if you are commuting”

“Sometimes, unfortunately, things do go wrong. We want to ensure fair compensation is offered to our passengers in these cases. Today's launch of our scheme to compensate passengers if their journey is delayed by 15 minutes or more shows our commitment to improving the customer experience.”
