The Lappa Valley Railway, in Cornwall, has announced it has won Silver in the Small Attraction of the Year at the 2017/18 Cornwall Tourism Awards.

The Steam Railway is a 15 inch miniature railway in Newquay in Cornwall.

The line runs for 1.5 miles from Benny Halt to East Wheal Rose. There is a leisure area for passengers at East Wheal Rose.

is celebrating 40 years of operating. It is owned by Keith and Sara Southwell who purchased the railway in 2014.

What did the officials say on the Lappa Valley Railway win?

Managing Director Keith Southwell said, “Myself and the team are so happy to have been recognized in the Cornwall Tourism Awards, this really gives us the mark of a quality Cornish attraction. We have all been working so hard on all of the improvements being made to the park and visitor experience and we are all so proud of this award acknowledging what a great family attraction we are.”

Keith added, “We have some exciting plans ahead, so watch this space!”
