The Sherwood Forester is already in action on the line, hauling Santa Specials with members of the MHR’s home fleet.

This includes 9F 92212, also owned by Icons of Steam. Whistle at the line, 45231 will star in 2018’s 3-Day Pre-Spring Steam Gala, alongside home fleet Black 5 45379, to recreate part of the famous 15 Guinea Special.

The 15 Guinea Special was BR’s last steam hauled train and was organized to celebrate this. It was hauled by three Black 5s (45110, 44871 and 44781) and Standard 7 70013 “Oliver Cromwell”.

After its stay at The Watercress Line, The Sherwood Forester will be running on the mainline in 2018.
