East Midlands Trains provide extra seats for the Lincoln Christmas Market

East Midlands Trains has announced that it is adding extra seats onto its trains. This is to provide a better service for people visiting the Lincoln Christmas Market.

The market takes place from Thursday 7th December until Sunday 10th December. It is expected to attract thousands of visitors to the medieval square.

EMT will be providing nearly 65,000 seats across the four days.

The train operating company will be running a special timetable to and from Lincoln throughout this time. Saturday is expected to be the busiest of the four days.

EMT is expected to run more than double of its usual level of service, with more than 25,000 seats available.

Passengers are being strongly advised by to use their additional services and to book tickets in advance. Queuing systems are also expected to be in operation at key stations.

What did the officials say?

Sarah Turner, East Midlands Trains General Manager, said: “This is one of our favorite events of the year. We are proud to continue to play our part in helping many thousands of people visit Lincoln and have a wonderful day out. We work closely with the organisers and our local partners to help make the event a success and it is especially pleasing that we are able to provide more seats than ever before across the four days. As well as the huge increase in seats there will also be special arrangements at Lincoln and some other stations. We would ask customers to leave a bit of extra time for their journey so we can help everyone enjoy the occasion.”

Lydia Rusling, Head of Visit Lincoln, said “We welcome these extra services to Lincoln for the Christmas Market on one of the biggest weekends of the year for many businesses in the city. It's a great opportunity to welcome more visitors to Lincoln who will hopefully enjoy their visit and return again to explore more.”
