The Deep Mine Tour Train Carriage at in Blaenau Ffestiniog has been removed for an upgrade.

The yellow carriage takes you from daylight down the steep incline to the slate and years of history.

Journeys have been made down the incline since 1970s when the deep mine tour wass introduced.

Blaenau Ffestiniog was once the ‘Slate Capital of the World' where the little town provided slate all around the world. The Ffestiniog Railway was used to carry slate to the port.

The little carriage has done 170,000 journeys – that is equal to a journey around the world! A million passengers have used the tiny railway.

By the spring, the carriage will look like new after a refurbishment by Claytons and is expected to return by January 2018.
