Great Central Railway – Last Hurrah Gala 2017 – Information

This weekend, the Great Central Railway will be holding their final gala of the year ‘Last Hurrah' being the name.

The railway hopes to have five steam steam locomotives in action on the weekend.

Subject to completion of overhaul, Austerity 68067  will be hauling its first passenger trains.

The locomotive arrived in Loughborough in 2007 and has gone under a full restoration.

Another first is newly constructed Diesel Brake Tender will also be in operation at the the gala.

Diesel Brake Tender

A first in preservation. At the end of the 1950s, britain was in the middle of introducing diesel locomotives on the Mainline. It was discovered that the new diesels didnt have the same braking power as steam. So the Diesel Brake Tender was created to help with the problem.

  • Family Ticket: £40 (2 adults & up to 3 children)
