34092 “City of Wells” (also known as “Wells”), a Bulleid Light Pacific, has recently been put up for sale by its current owners.

The locomotive first visited the East Lancs Railway back in July 2015. Due to a road bridge weight limit problem at Ingrow West, the bulleid pacific couldn’t return back to Keighley and Worth Valley Railway by road. Therefore has stayed in Bury at the East Lancs Railway.

Ever since then, Wells has become a very valuable member of ELR’s home fleet, performing well on Santa Specials, Galas and ordinary train services.

It’s due to this that ELR would like to purchase 34092, to become a permanent member of ELR’s home fleet.

Following discussions with the current owner, an agreement has been reached between both parties. To help purchase the steam locomotive, ELR have launched an appeal to raise £340,920.00. This is towards the full cost of “City of Wells”.
