The Bala Lake Railway Trust has announced it is has agreed on the purchase of a strip of land next to the Rugby Club for their extension project.

The agreement in principle has been made. This is to purchase a strip of land alongside the very edge of the rugby field. Also, a small piece of the adjacent field will also be purchased.

The intended route has had a slight realignment. Now the extension will be within a very short distance of the new town station.

BLR Trust has also announced that the Snowdonia National Park has granted planning permission. This is for the demolition of the derelict warehouse on Aran Street. The railway will arrive into the town!

What did the officials say about the Bala Lake extension?

Julian Birley, chairman of the Trust, said “We could not have asked for more support, it has been a delight to work with Bala Rugby Club and the neighboring farmer. We regard ourselves as a community asset, and working with other parts of the community fulfills our absolute aims and objectives. However, there is still much to do, not least the application for the Transport and Works Act Order from Parliament. We look to continue to work with the local community to bring this project to a successful conclusion creating benefits for the local area.
