The have announced that LSWR Adams T3 No. 563 will move into the Flour Mill Workshop next month.

The Flour Mill Workshops can be found near the Dean Forest Railway

The team at the Flour Mill, along with the Swanage Railway Engineers, will take the T3 to pieces to examine all the parts, before the work can begin at bringing the locomotive back to steam.

This is being made possible because of a donator who has generously donated to fund the strip down and assessment.

No. 563 last steamed over 71 years ago and the assessment will allow the team to see what work needs to be done and how much the overhaul is likely to cost.

The T3 will only be able to steam again with finance from appeals and the hard work of the volunteers.

563 is one of the Swanage Railways most prestigious locomotives.

The locomotive will be stripped down during 2018, although you can start donating towards the overhaul now.

If, during the strip down, a surprise comes along and means the locomotive cant be returned to steam, the Swanage Railway will restore to museum condition and any money left will fund the railways maintenance.

How do you donate?
