The new terminus at Caernarfon is taking shape – with the project on track to open in summer 2018.

Since its reopening in 1997, the Welsh Highland Railway has used its temporary terminus and its facilities in Caernarfon.

The new terminus is part of a £15 million regenration of Caernarfon town and waterfront.

The steel supports are already towering up and work is proceeding well.

Paul Lewin, who is General Manager at the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway, said: “With these projects there is a long period when all the groundworks are being done when people don't see much taking place on the site. Also we had a three month delay due to the discovery of a gas main. But over the last three weeks the steel frame has gone up and now people can see the size and shape of the building that is being built”.

We look forward to seeing the new terminus opening next year
