Palmerston Set For London Return

Palmerston, a George England Steam Locomotive built a 153 years ago in London, is set for a visit to the capital of England

On February 18th, in the middle of the night at 1am, volunteers will be rolling Palmerston into London Kings Cross.

Palmerston will be on display at London Kings Cross until February 26th.

Throughout the visit, staff and volunteers will be joined by the Great Little Trains of Wales to promote seeing Welsh narrow gauge all by rail (Big Train Meets Little Train).

Built by George England Iron Works in East London, steam locomotive ‘Palmerston' was completed in 1864. The steam locomotive was used on both the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway before being withdrawn in 1937. After a lengthy overhaul, Palmerston returned to steam in 1993, currently one of two George England Locomotives in steam at the Ffestiniog Railway, along with ‘Prince', which is soon to be joined by ‘Welsh Pony'
