Welshpool and Llanfair Line obtains Standard Gauge Goods Wagon

The Welshpool and Llanfair has obtained a former Great Western Railway Wagon (Standard Gauge) from the National Railway Museum. It is hoped to be able the wagon on display at Welshpool Raven Square. This is to help demonstrate what happened before the preservation days.

Welshpool and Llanfair – Standard Gauge Goods Wagon

Wagons like the one obtained by the W&LLR were once a common sight at the interchange between the narrow gauge line to Llanfair and the standard gauge line to Birmingham and Pwllheli.

The cattle docks still exist complete with a short section of mixed-gauge track. Welshpool Town Council planning to restore this area as a historical exhibit.
