We start our day at Devils bridge where we see the first train of day arrive from Aberystwyth in the form of No. 9. We also see loco ‘Margaret' who was busy all day giving footplate rides and also ‘Driver For a Fiver', this is great value for money and you get the chance to ride on the footplate of steam engine 🙂

The train then departs for Aberystwyth. We head to the coast in time to see No. 8 departing with its train to the waterfalls at Devils Bridge, the train makes calls at Capel Bangor and Aberffrwd and other request stops by prior request.

No. ‘Prince of Wales' was built in the 1920s for the Great Western Railway, it was numbered 1213 for that period. Built in Swindon Works, No. 9 was a locomotive not authorised for being built originally. The loco is a more powerful version of the Davies & Metcalf 2-6-2T design. No. 9 is a regular sight steaming up and down the Rheidol valley.

No. 8 ‘Llywelyn'

No. 8 Llywelyn was an original loco built for the Great Western Railway built at the Swindon Loco Works in 1923. Llywelyn was the name applied by the British Railways when in operation by the company. The loco is made to the same design as No. 9 ‘Prince of Wales'. The locomotive was returned to coal firing in 2012 and is also a regular sight on the railway during operating days.
