The Snowdonian 2016 – Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways

As posted previously – Saturday 16th April 2016 saw the Ffestiniog & have its annual fundraising train “The Snowdonian” .

This is the only train in the year to travel the whole of the railway in one day, with the same set of carriages. The route being Porthmadog – Blaenau Ffestiniog – Porthmadog – Caernarfon – Porthmadog.

Stage one

The Snowdonian at PorthmadogStage one saw , Prince and set off at 08:40 for a trip up to Blaenau Ffestiniog. Before returning to Pen Cob, where the locomotives where changed, and the train ran non-stop through Porthmadog Station.
This part of the video has locations of stage one at Porthmadog, Penrhyn, Tan-y-bwlch, Tanygrisau, and all in return.

 

Stage Two

Stage two saw , Blanche and Darjeeling Himalayan No. 19 head up the Welsh Highland Railway to Caernarfon, stopping on the way at Beddgelert for some Lunch.
This part of the video has locations of stage two at Porthmadog, Pont Croesor, Aberglaslyn Pass, Beddgelert, Rhyd Ddu, Waunfawr, Caernarfon and many more places along the line!

‘The Snowdonian' was fully booked, and as a result of the overwhelming interest, there will be a Snowdonian Limited, that will run in June with limited seating.
