Bala Lake Railway

On the 29th July 2015, I made a visit to the Bala Lake Railway, which  is situated in North Wales. I started my journey at Llanuwchllyn, which is where trains start and end their journeys, and is also where the engine sheds are.

Todays locomotive is Winifred, this is a Hunslet Locomotive, which has only recently been restored back to service by the Bala Lake Railway.
The line follows the Bala Lake/ Llyn Tegid to Bala town. With plenty of views across the Lake.

For people looking to stay nearby, there is plenty of lake-side campsites, some of which have closeby Railway Halts.

One of the main stations along the route is Llangower, which is about halfway along the line, they is a car park and toilets here, but the toilets aren't on the station, but are in the car park.

When the train has reached Bala station, Winifred turns round so I facing towards Llanuwchllyn again.

On the return journey, the weather seems to have turned in, black clouds with heavy showers.

Back at Llanuwchllyn, we had lunch. As the rain set in, Winifred set off back to Bala.

The Café at Llanuwchllyn sells a variety of Cakes, Sandwiches and Jacket Potatoes, I recommend the Chicken And Bacon Jacket Potato!

The Signal Box is open for the public to view in. Which is quite nice!

Bala Lake Railway is also looking to extend right into the centre of Bala itself.
