Nice to see how other countries are coping Mike! What a difference between Eurostar and an old steamer bellowing out on getting away?

@nostalgia Thanks Clive, the strange thing was that Amsterdam Centraal didn’t feel that strange when compared to Bristol, Preston or York. Yes the language was different as I could never get my head around Dutch despite being able to speak and read French, German and Italian. I did get questioned as to what I was doing by a member of the security service, but a quick view of my YouTube channel set them straight and he even told me when trains were departing.

Many years ago I would return to the UK from Africa jobs via different airlines? Simply to view Dutch, German, Swiss etc railways and such, Plus late night bars for the very different Ales of our European neighbours! Munich would be termed (Munchan)? And I went by train, when in Amsterdam to visit the (Bridge too far) as in the film? Arnam, I thought was worth a visit! And was! A bridge over a river, Held by the Germans! The Propeller driven plane home to Plymouth UK, Barley lifted from the ground at Skippal runway! Thought I was a ‘gonna’? And we did an emergency landing in Southampton instead of going on down to Plymouth? Leaving me stranded? I did what anyone would do when marooned? Found the nearest bar? And while in the toilet, The Landlord chucked my case out into the carpark thinking it to be an IRA terrorist bomb??

@nostalgia I have never liked aeroplanes and much rather go over land and meet the natives, which is much more enjoyable. At 18 I travel from New York State to Alaska in a big articulated truck sharing the driving with my older cousin, now that was a journey.
