No, but I don’t see any railway running past the zoo., there is a train line running some 150 metres to the east

I have been on a few trains that pass with the zoo on both sides. Utrecht is worth a visit, great station, and a beautiful city.

@johns I have thought about this and think you are talking about Basal as a mainline railway runs through it.

My apologies it’s Rotterdam Zoo. I did sometimes forget where I was, and I approached Schipol and the port from trains all over Europe.

@johns Thanks, Rotterdam does look a bit like Amsterdam from certain angles as they both share a common architecture style. We have been to Holland a number of times as the wife grandfather was a parachutist in WW2 and need up in operation market garden getting dropped too far east of the bridge and ended up being taken in by the locals before ended up in Amsterdam and getting smuggled back to the UK in a fishing boat.

It has amazing history. I worked near Maestricht for 5 weeks, it was part of the battle of the bulge, and there are memories everywhere, especially on the Belgium side. Enjoy the trip.
