6 likes for my Tea Bag yarn! Things looking up or is it too hot for folk to venture out? I only knew 257 squadron from 1959 to 1963 really! But on redundancy of footplate work I would venture overseas! To share a pint with a Brigadier? Appapa would have 3 or 400 ships stood off the coast at Lagos! And Brigadier Ali was in charge of ship movements! The Triumph T21 was a very popular import! The (as new) Rolls Royce with a broken fan belt was now some ones home! Not a degrading remark? I would love to move about in a motor home? With Wiltshire farm foods and water for a good shower! Bring it on! But mention of Hunslet? +Kitson engines of Leeds, Stafford? I’m not into that stuff really, But the River class or Garratt to include Ghana, (I liked Ghana), looked decent sorts! I would suppose they have gone diesel now though? A bit further up the coast to the Bight of Benin (Nigeria is many times the size of the UK)? And not just very hot but very humid as well! But I have a cool breeze with the doors open! And I have Harper’s Pale Ale at less than 5 quid for a four pack from Aldi! And in 1965/ 1966 a young fireman would be belting through the Severn tunnel with a good load behind with a ‘Capstain’ full strength hanging from his lips in contrast to the smokebox ash, Coal burn, etc, was / is just a memory! I bet Squadron leader Robert Tuck smoked? Every one did! It was good for you! (Next Respiratory hospital appointment due in July)? Doh!
