(fingers in ring or break your knuckles)! Smokebox, But then with (rocking bars) (A true godsend) The Pits ashpan scraper is busy! ”And I have it next” says a senior voice! So my 3rd choice of fire iron is the (Pricker) Not fit for much else but to lay flat and push out the ashpan you had just dropped! (from upwind)! My mate was brainy! College n stuff! ”You cant defy physics” he said? Burn paper for an ‘air born’ vapour to arise! You cannot destroy matter he insisted! You reap what though shall sow! And later driver says don’t bother with smokebox on this? S/C (self cleaning) Plus ashpan distributes its ash as we roar along? I scatter our seed! I’ve solved Physic’s! ‘Sergeant Bilko’ beam’s down on his new recruit!

@AlexF, Yes indeed! A ”torch’cut” Of an early engine of mine, Followed my M7, Then the 82 standard or 8000 Riddles 4 Mt! All good but the Ivatt 2Mt was king! In my humble opinion? My early branchline days.

82 year old fireman! I dig the garden! n stuff, What’s the difference? The oldest swinger in heritage town? I wonder the oldest fireman this present day?? I’m as old as Oliver’s Bulleids Merchant Navy? And more recent Standard engines not born yet! Some were only 15 yrs when scrapyard bound! but i bow to witherstack, owsden or dumbleton.
