Halls that couldn’t fly, But couldn’t fail to see Brabazon or the whispering giant go up from Filton, We take them to Bristol Barrow road, from the marsh some of them! Wave goodbye to likes of Leander! I am watching ‘Big Jet’ live from London Heathrow! Distraction every 2 minutes for ‘take offs’! I bet none of them knew the Boeing 707 as I did for my passage for overseas work after I left the railway! I bet 707s were about back then though? It was later in the 70s when the DC 10 was introduced! I only mention stuff like 31874 or 80064 and those others above because they were spared the cutters torch! And as such, Would of heard even Concord go over too no doubt? And all these huge airliners I watch today will end up in that far away scrapyard in the United States of America! Broken up for their components, While all steam engines I mention above march on! There was a Hagley and Downham too, But like the above I’m not sure what was preserved! Doh! I think one Concord was saved though? I really must get my drone out!! Not flown it for yonks! Oh dear! I should check my facts? Meanwhile lets have a coffee? Wonder if any ‘Big Jet’ (YouTube) folk on here?

There’s one near me that I’ve visited at Brooklands (No. 202 G-BBDG “Delta Golf”), and I’ve seen a couple of others as well (prototype No. 002 G-BSST at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton, and pre-production No. 101 G-AXDN at IWM Duxford).

        • I once witnessed a very loud and noisy Concord rise from an airport, To meet a very high flying Hang glider with its propeller and engine strapped to its pilots back somehow? They passed each other so close that I thought Concord was going to scoop him up! The hang glider dropped back down to earth the fastest I have ever seen! Poor chap had a nasty turn no doubt?

Got to admit the service was second to none but quite cramped inside very narrow and not a lot of headroom, bit like a Voyager but a million times more comfortable and the view at 55000ft was amazing, return on one of those Jumbo jets with a lot more room just not as quick 😀
