(The shipping lines adopted by Bulleid Packets)
When I think back to those shipping convoy’s that sustained us in the war years, Dodging the dreaded Wolf pacts of the U-boat, And such ships that carried a Countries name! Then many of these Merchant navy sorts would be on my old shed! Nice to see, As many were scrapped! I wont bore you of my oiling etc of such locomotive’s! But try to remember Countries / 35s, (The Packet)! An upcoming auction has the Regulator of United States 35003 ( they are engraved on build), Specific to an engine? A great lump of bent steel? Others I remember being Canadian Pacific, British India, Holland America, All distinguished of hauling the ACE, (Atlantic coast expresses)! I would tend the likes of think the 1st – Channel Packet? Don’t quote me though! Lol, I must have a look sometime! Interesting though? And 34 light Squadrons / Battle of Britain sorts of many for all the many fighter planes airfields scattered over the land! Rough times for all, And the saviour of the very United Kingdom itself? So many of our Merchant ships ‘lay’ with Davie Jones to this day!

I would add that I thought 35003 was Royal Mail? That I did service on 72A shed? And Bulleid ‘Packet’ United States was numbered 35012? All were converted by 1959! The opening bid on (35003’s regulator lever) Is 100 quid! Both engines were scrapped I think? PS, What a lever to pull a pint, From a Keg in your home BAR! Or to pull a wine bottles cork from its bottle! How novel? What a talking point? A rather robust bracket on your wall needed though!
