      • I would clean and polish this 66 year ago on Exmth jct (72A shed)! With 50/50 oil n paraffin! It would hammer in on 2, For my prep for the North Devon runs! No underneaths to do as unconverted!

      • Oh I think I could still manage it Mike! But not on £3-10shillings a 40 hour week? And to Pushbike it 12 mile to work every day! But I say to any young aspiring Heritage cleaner to look into the cab at the steam pressure gauge before cleaning near ‘blow off’ safety valves! My word, They do crack to scare? I had 50/50 oil n paraffin! In a bucket! With cotton waste (skane)? From (skane) shed opposite the snow ploughs! What they use this day? Must be one of them on ‘here’ surely? (Some fancy car polish I spose)? I would clean anything from T9 to Bulleid! The mind would boggle at the different sorts! And I was expected to oil them as well of coarse! Never once a seizure!!! I was the Bulleid Ferret! Big ends cosy warm after 100MPH romps! It was the tank engines with inner motion like Mincing machines that bothered me!! ‘Oh’ a couple yarns there! But i don’t think many read writing (yarns) if no pictures attached? Good ole days though!
