Quick question
Where does everyone recommend trainspotting on the East Lancashire Railway
Flight Space and Mike Ashworth7 Comments-
There’s various locations on the East Lancashire Railway and it all depends on what sort of viewing you are after, close up or in the landscape,? at a station?(in a rural area or a busy town? I have filmed from various locations, with a lot around Rawtenstall (the wife goes shopping, I go filming). At the fourth coming steam gala I will be a Ramsbottom Station as you get trains coming both ways and it tends not to be as busy as Bury gets.

@Mike_Ashworth Where is the best station for photos
-
-
Now that’s a hard one to answer, and I will have to ask you what sort of train photo are you trying to take and when as they all have for and against points.
-
@Mike_Ashworth Probably one with the front and most/or all of the side in.I don’t know when

@Alex507 Bury is a good choice as there is plenty going on and a choice of platforms, it’s also easy to get to.

I love Irwell Vale, and you get good shots at Ramsbottom.

My favourites:
1. Bury ski jump (trains heading towards Heywood)
2. Irwell Vale Northbound
3. Burrs C.P (Non stoppers) – up the hill
4. Summerseat – northbound services
5. Ewood Bridge (northbound only)
6. Bury Transport Museum (Towards Ramsbottom)
7. Stubbins Foot Crossing (Northbound)All locos for next wok’s steam gala are facing towards Rawtenstall except 1969 ‘JN Derbyshire’
If you want any southbound ideas: https://youtu.be/ZaVpCYb0194
Hope this helps
