Blue Peter returned to Chester after hauling the Saphos Trains’ Settle and Carlisle Fellsman at 21:45pm on the 1st July.
Photos taken on my phone as I had not long come home from work and didn’t have time to pick up the camera

Hornby R3952 Pendolino spruce up advice
Hi all,
I was recently running my Hornby R3952 Avanti West Coast liveried Pendolino that I’ve had for 4 years now and noticed that the “Avanti West Coast” lettering, number 390 156, cantrail and red parts of the livery have started to come off.
In the time that I’ve had it, I moved house to that may contribute to its worn appearance, however I…

King Edward I’ loaded test run
On the back of hearing that 6024 King Edward I was out on test earlier today, do we have any confirmation on when shell go out on a loaded test run? Was hoping to photograph her.
Thanks In advance

According to Realtime Trains trains it looks like two light engine runs to Chester were planned for today but have now been cancelled due to “a problem with a steam locomotive”. This is fairly standard for test runs as issues with locos are revealed. My guess is that we’ll see runs scheduled again over the next few days – unless someone has…

A Surprise at Chester this morning, Tangmere on the Great Britain XVIII,20,04,26
I’d heard a few months ago that the Great Britain XVIII was to be stopping at Chester as part of the 2026 edition of the railtour so had planned to capture the arrival on the 19th April as 34028 “Eddystone” was hauling the train to Chester, however the lack of sun wouldn’t allow for good photographs. So I settled to capture the departure…

Modelling Bridgnorth Station in OO
I’m looking forward to starting it Mike, I’ve chosen to use the PECO bullhead style track and then possibly somehow integrate the spare Hornby 3rd radius curves and Hide them either in tunnels or under a village so that each wall is it’s own separate scene brought together through the countryside.

Modelling Bridgnorth Station in OO
Thanks for the help Mike, it’s much appreciated. I’ve actually taken inspiration from the old shelf layout you were telling me about. I’ve decided to do it 30cm in width, and then 254cm along one wall, 423cm along the next and then 390cm along the third and final wall. Before this, I was struggling to find a way to fit it into the room I wanted…

Modelling Bridgnorth Station in OO
So for an upcoming model railway project, I am aiming to build a compressed version of Bridgnorth station on the Severn Valley Railway. As part of this project, I am hoping to build the custom station buildings out of either 2mm or 4mm balsa wood.
I understand that the first part of modelling a real world station is to find drawings of…

My model railway build
So alongside photographing real steam trains, im also in the process on building my first ever model railway. I have had model trains ever since I was three but have never had the opportunity to make a proper layout for my collection until now.
It is a OO gauge model on an 8×4 board of a modern day UK heritage railway that has been freelanced…

Looking good, if you have a lot of locomotives make the engine shed a motive power depot. I had a model railway a number years ago that sat on a foot wide base board that was arranged on three walls giving 56 feet of running track . The great thing about it was that the room could still be used as a spare bedroom.

Llangollen Railway Branchline Gala 2026
A wonderful (despite the rain) visit to the annual branchline gala at Llangollen railway featuring visiting locomotives 4555, 1369, and D9525 alongside members of the home fleet 7754 and 3802. Also decided to stop off at Glyndyfrydwy for more varied photos
