Little Yellow Shunter
My wife and I had a day out in Manchester on Monday going around the Christmas Markets, on the way there at Newton Heath we spotted a little yellow shunter, which my way said it ‘looked cute’. Is this the smallest loco on the network, does anyone have anu information on it?

It’s quite a fair size compared with the tug at Freightliner Leeds VMF and is also bigger than Hunslet Eng Co Ltd’s loco 1786 Courage (aka “Sweet Pea”) on the Middleton Railway.

Missed it
I managed to miss the Chester Christmas Explorer as had super power from three diesel locomotives two class 37’s and a class 57 and as I approached the local Iron Bridge I hear all three locomotives powering up and it flew past me rapidly as I climbed the stairs and just managed to catch the smoke going under the next bridge.

Let the trains come to me
It looks like we are approaching the off season for catching heritage trains, as there appears to be no stream over the S & C for a while. I was checking what was running over the weekend and noticed that there was a West Coast service passing the bottom of our road on Saturday afternoon, but it did not appear to be in the railtours page, after…

Hi Mike,
This train is under the Pathfinder Tours trip called The Chester Christmas Explorer.
Unusually they have combined the timings for the main and mini tours but everything is here: https://www.railadvent.co.uk/events/the-chester-christmas-explorer
Instead of scrolling through the list., you can search by station…
