4 weeks agoOther Railway Adventures I reckon there’s a story of Bulleid’s Merchant Navy fleet, (Lines)! Blue Star, British India, Holland America (lines) etc etc! Loads of them! Clan line looks better in my humble opinion, As in its stripped down version? Chain bath gone! Walshaert gear would promote a different lubrication pattern! (As it would to all Bulleid West Country, Battle Of Britain or Squadron 34s that would be converted! Mainline Drivers scour the 12 shed roads for 15 /16 year old young cleaner boys! Like (Me)!! Hand on shoulder, Or grab your ear! Do my engine boy! Lol, Do me a favour boy! Engines all ready on pits! Big end 10 past T D Centre! Blocking the pit road! No one dare say a word to them senior men! L** B******* Salt of the earth! Please don’t let another engine hit me driver, ‘I say’! I would worry of being between big end and bottom of boiler! I’m Bacon! You are waist deep to pit edge! Your boots are smoking from hot waste coals and clinker, And then you climb up like a monkey, Oh Lord! Ive gone off my Merchant Lines story! CLAN line Ships company formed long ago of Liverpool Heritage! Many (Thirty or so) lost in the 2nd world war alone! Preyed on by the submarine and its torpedo, To now lie in the deep! So many big ships, So many brave seamen! And so much cargo we needed to survive the war. So when Bulleid Clan Line turns up at the big gathering event, I trust its still well oiled? As i would do long ago for all them carriages to hurtle to Salisbury, And London Waterloo way! With the Atlantic coast express or whatever? Memories, Are as deep as them ships that didn’t make it!
