• (1965 Steam tour? Then its the Moon)?

I believe it to be this time of year (60 year ago) that 7029 Clun castle come down from Paddington? To visit Bristol, And to be sorted at my old Barrow road shed, And then we left it at Bath road shed at the western end of Temple meads station! To the left of Bath road bridge itself, Outside the office window under the big clock! It would just rest there until it would do another tour to Birmingham I thought? (Nostalgia’s getting hazy)! There’s no mention of that on its computer page history? And being in full view of T/Meads I am surprised there’s no photo’s about? Barrow road steam shed closed in December 1965! So then I would have diesel every day until Single manning was introduced in a couple of years? 7029 would be one of the first to be ‘preserved’? It was very scruffy in the September of 65? But now looked lovely all cleaned up! (And 60 years younger of course)! I would dearly love (the missed chance now) of the inner cylinders culminating in its leading axle big ends! My job on the Southern sheds in late 50s when I was a cleaner boy? I wish money could buy a decade or two? Don’t think I could afford six though? 7029 then goes to Birmingham(?) Its years yet till Armstrong n Aldrin step onto the Moon! And President Kennedy sends the Russian Nuclear threat a scurrying back into the Atlantic Ocean!
