• (Other Railways) I’m sure that i mentioned the 2-8-0 Austerity back along? (also 2-10-0 version) Maybe i simply had the same engine type over n over? Cant remember! Wish now i had kept some written detail! There’s mention of Severn tunnel jct? And we would relieve and work back to Bristol on these (90s) i called them! Early / mid 60s i worked the Bristol Barrow road Midland shed! But we had the GW engines out of the Marsh that complicated things back then? I remember goods trips and Filton? (There was a ‘Brabazon’ long before a Concord)? and the 90 Austerity! ? Stoke Gifford and stuff, But the 90 was an honest engine. There were some pretty long tenders back then! Ref my story of my uncoupling and walking on my knees over ballast for a passenger under our cab that fell (or pushed) as we entered a station? that finally emerged as my driver pulled forward! The tender seemed as long as the engine itself! Interesting days – The Railway.
