(Shed Bash) ‘History’ is interesting! Spose this could be on Mainline steam really? (But i clog up the airways)? Bristol Barrow road was a steam shed in its own right! Add to that the stuff from the ‘Marsh’ and it was pretty busy come 1964! In 1965 me and my driver would sign on at ‘Bath road’ shed to walk a fair way over rails in all weathers to get our steam engine! Still plenty of steam goods and passenger work about! And throughout 1965 we would take many to scrap through the Severn tunnel on nights every 3 or 4 weeks or so? We had no WI-FI for ‘info’ back then! ‘So sure’ that i would have 90 Austerity? But 8F 48s or 9Fs had many wheels? I remember Austerity, For its many wheels plus i liked them! The Bristol Marsh now stunk of diesel! It was worse than the fumes it produced when burnt! By this time i moved from the BR Hostel at Cotham to share a flat on the Wells road with a fellow fireman! Poor M*, Couldn’t understand the need of another women? His wife couldn’t either! By this time i am learning Western and Warship train heating boilers, Why do mine go off louder than others? (You inject diesel spray) till it explodes? And driver tries to get away with brakes on! Meanwhile Trafalgar, Leander, New Zealand, Galatea or Tanganyika slope off! Some to escape by the skin of their paint! Like my old 80064 branchline engine or 6990 Witherstack Hall! Or my 2Mts and Standard 82s 3Mts! (82045 being built somewhere)! Meanwhile the BR hostel boys and overnight long distance crews have Rock n Rolle at the Glen on the Downs! Beatles not invented yet! And Neil Armstrong n Buzz Aldrin can only ‘gaze’ at the distant Moon!
