On Saturday 16 May I made good use of my bus pass with a journey from CW6 to Buxton via Crewe and Macclesfield. There was spectacular scenery between Macclesfield and Buxton which, when driving a car, you don’t get the opportunity to take in. The purpose behind my visit to Buxton was to see the arrival of “The Buxton Spa Express” (Ealing Broadway to Buxton), with steam hauling the train between Leicester and Buxton. Over the years many people have adjourned to Buxton to take the waters. Few, if any, are unlikely to have taken in water the way LMS Black Five 44871 did in preparing for the return journey.
