• Does anyone know the names of the 47 & 57 classes that are used on todays “Edinburgh Summer Explorer”? (1Z37 Leeds to Edinburgh via Carlisle). 47 had intercity swallow and tge 57 a maroon (institute of something- nameplate). Thanks all.

      • Hi. I believe the 57 is 57311, the 47 sounds like 47828 which is in swallow livery. 47593 is in intercity large logo. 57311 is Institute of Mechanical E gingers. I hope this helps.

        • Thanks very much

        • May i add that 57311 was also the tail end banker on the English Riviera Express to Kingswear last weekend! The train read Braunton, 47593, and 57311. (In picture seen in distance and a shot of 57311 from my video)!

          • @nostalgia It’s just a shame because 45118 was due to work it, but ended up with these two locos. (Bad picture I know, but screenshotted from video)

            • @nostalgia Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I did video it running past, as I use my phone. To say that it is slow is nothing but an understatement. Adding to the fact that lighting was bad for the camera to work ‘properly’, I had to screenshot it off the video. That too was blurred.

As for taking lots of shots, I do this. However, the phone doesn’t react the second I press the button. So a delay makes it as the photo above.
