I thought it was designed from the outset to have a high route availability, is the gauging problem a new or old gauging problem?

We have been advised it is to do with Platform 5 at Shipley. I cant remember the last time steam went down that platform

It’s due to the tightness of the curve of platform 5. The 47 on entry to Bradford both times struggled and you could see it “swaying” up and down at about 10mph

Just an update if you are out for this today. There has been a points failure at Hellifield, preventing the train from getting into the loop.

Tornado is there already, tour now arrived into the goods loop 47 minutes late 🙂

This sounds a bit confusing which loop is out of use? Is it on the up or down loops.

I assume the side heading towards Carlisle had an issue as Tornado was already in one of the loops (I assume the Skipton bound side)

So how does the train come from Skipton if there is a points failure at the souend?

According to RTT, I assume the points failed on the entry of the diesel portion. It was stuck there and then showed up 30min late entering. Causing the Northern unit to be delayed behind it, but came out in front.

Tornado would have come down from Carnforth and appears to go into the up goods loop, but it’s unclear which points where faulty, as it could have been the at the crossover south of the signal box which would have meant going down the Blackburn line a short distance and using the crossover there to come up to the down side of the station.

I did see Tornado on Platform 1 (Leeds direction) at about 0840, shortly before the railtours came up from Bradford. It was facing Leeds.

Possibly. Well, I’m sure that Network Rail will be alerted to this. Because there’s many more railtours this summer, that’ll use the goods loops.
