I ventured up the Canal to cop this new to me (71000 Duke of Gloucester) running at speed and on time to Penzance for a little Atlantic sea air! Looked and sounded good on the I.K. Brunel line! Has anyone heard when 34067 Tangmere will be returning to steam?

From what I have heard, it is going to be sometime before Tangmere is back in action.
The pony truck under the footplate is in a bad way. In addition, West Coast have flogged Tangmere to death.

I got Tangmere (34067) sat on 72A in 1963? I numbered it 2 of (1) Lord Dowding? and (3) 34066 Spitfire? Retired on Exmth jct I only assume! My only thought at that time was that, if not ‘Converted’, then I would not be expected to oil it! (Bulleid gear / not Walschaert)?

There was a Britannia 70022 Tornado I think but don’t quote me! And there’s a Maunsell 31874 North Devon high step prancer on Swanage! One of my old engines on 72A in 1960! Be nice if a photo? 13foot tender irons, I had so many Maunsell! Big boxes! Don’t remember drop bars? (long time ago). Clinker out cab doors! Smoke box and grates! Nice…

Does anyone know when Network Rail will be doing a re-assessment of the mainline steam ban? I know things are very dire down south, but with the rain we’ve had in the north over the last two weeks surely the fire risk is significantly lower up here.

I think the Welsh Marches Express on 26th August will be steam hauled. we have some rain over the last few days, also on the 26th there is rain in the forecast.
