People in the UK always complain about the weather, it’s too hot or too cold, we live in a part of the world where it should be a lot colder as Preston is further north of every Canadian city. Carlisle is as far north as the most southern parts of Alaska and it’s only the Gulf Stream that makes the Uk liveable. Currently the warmer…

Blue Peter went through Golbourne last week, it appeared to be pushed via the Diesels, it’s sad bit at least the. Engines are appearing. With luck the weather will reset to wet and normal soon, and we will see normal service resumed.

I was talking to people at Hellifield on Thursday and responses were there would in all probability be a steam ban on the network. 45212 appeared at Hellifield being dragged, and when it departed the diesel pusher was giving it plenty of power, sort of the steam engine was more for effect and show, than providing power.

We are working hard to update our railtours page as quickly as possible, but with lots of steam movements and tours this weekend, there’s lots to update.
Lots of steam now being replaced by diesel across the country. Latest details are here: http://www.railadvent.co.uk/railtours

There is now an update for the 11th July, a few days ago I explained that there was two services that I wanted to see and that the only place to see them both was at Bletchley and then finding a way onto Bletchley High Level, from what I found out, the VAR one was taken of the timetable meaning the stp will go past Bletchley High Level on…

It does seem to be that it is now cancelled after being activated three hours before original departure. Originating as the “0Z10 1500 Stewarts Lane T&R.S.M.D to London Victoria”, this has now been cancelled.
From what I can gather, this one was due to go to London Victoria, Keighley WVR, Workington, Penrith North lakes, ribblehead,…

I liked Michaels memory of Steam cab rides! Stories flood back of my Drivers wives friends return from the city clubs and pubs on the last train home! The Ivatt or Standard 82 3Mt had a nice cab! 82045 new build is only one of this breed! All others scrapped! But drivers mini skirted friends would beg a lift on a jubilant boisterous late…

This is something to think about, on the 11/7/2025, I want to see both the Carnforth Steamtown to Southall Wcr and the London Victoria to Keighley Worth Valley Railway, the two trains should between 6pm and 7pm, the two services that are Carnforth Steamtown to Southall Wcr are not both going to run, since they have very similar timings, so…
