LORAM MOVEMENTS

Im not an expert on LORAM’s stock moves, but it clearly seems there’s is a pattern here. If it is Caroline, then it’ll be paired with a 37. Bearing in mind that Caroline’s purpose is for “line inspection”, or at least that’s what I think it is.

    Order (I predict)

Derby RTC to Derby then onto Preston. (5Z01-2Z01)

Preston down to London Marylebone and back to to Derby RTC. (2Z02- 5Z03)

Absolutely no idea on routes taken. But the Settle/Carlisle or Bentham line, and WCML may be involved.

You are correct with line inspection, but it would be unlikely for the train to go past Preston (it’s not timetable to for starter) as it is possible to pull Caroline south but come off onto the East Lancashire Line as far as Bamber Bridge, then by using the crossover and a south bound cord re-join the WCML at Farrington Junction, and push Caroline back down south.

As I said, my WCML route knowledge is absolutely 0 aha. We’ll have to wait and see if any updates occur.

Caroline is based at Derby RTC and does run under 2Z paths like these.

It is usually, as mentioned above, used with a Class 37 and can be used in push pull mode 🙂

On an entirely different matter, a 37 and Caroline is due to attend Derby’s “Greatest Gathering.”

Well, that’s a little bit unfortunate for me. Means I would have to go all the way to Hellifield to see it. Is there any timetable for the London leg? I am assuming it will go down as far as Rugby or similar and then go down the Chiltern mainline.

By Rugby, I was referring to Coventry and Leamington Spa where it would then go down via the High Wycombe route.
