It was a really enjoyable trip to Windsor with excellent service throughout. The staff was attentive and courteous at all times. We opted for the first class option rather than fine dining which included tea and coffee served numerous times during the trip and a snack box provided on each journey. We had taken food with us but ended up bringing quite a lot of it home.
The carriages are extremely well maintained ,spotless and of ambient temperature . As we approached our departure station a steward came to advise us that it was soon time to leave the train.
The two down sides to the trip were that Windsor Castle is closed to the public on Wednesdays although it is extremely impressive to see from the outside and the homeward journey from Windsor to Preston took 7 hours by which time we were feeling very jaded and ready for home . In all fairness to the rail company the travel times were published when we booked but we had failed to read the itinerary properly
