The two-mile-long Somerset and Dorset Railway has opened an emporium at Midsomer Norton station.

Situated in an MK1 BG which arrived last year, it was opened at a special ceremony led by Chairman Roger Burfitt during the railway’s Autumn Gala on Sunday 27th September.

The emporium was due to open in January, but additional work to the MK1 brake gangway was needed, which had a knock-on effect on the installation and fitting out of the coach’s interior.

Visitors to the railway can now explore all the wares the emporium has to offer, such as second-hand books and timetables, model railway items ranging from rolling stock to scenery, and the odd collector’s item.

No doubt it will prove popular with enthusiasts and collectors, while providing another income stream for the railway.
