The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in Devon has announced its Autumn and Winter events schedule to see out 2026.

Starting Saturday 10th October 2026, the young volunteer Trackforce team will meet for the final time this year, taking on junior roles around the railway and developing not only life and social skills but also learning about the railway’s operations.

The same week, Saturday 10th – Sunday 18th October, is Postcode Week, where residents living in two drawn postcode areas can enjoy rail travel from £2 each, while under-14s travel for free.

In November, the L&BR will be hosting its annual Remembrance service at Woody Bay station from 10 am on Sunday 8th November.

A limited rail service will run that day as the railway remembers those who lost their lives in the War Department Light Railways and ROD during both conflicts.

The following Saturday, 14th November, is the Members’ forum in Lynton Town Hall from 11 am to 3 pm, while Sunday, 15th November, is the new Model Railway Exhibition at Woody Bay station, open from 10 am to 4 pm.

During the pre-Christmas closure, there will be a Work Weekend from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd November.

Saturday 5th December is a relaxed, quiet Santa Day where families can visit for a train ride and meet Santa in a sensory-friendly way without feeling too overwhelmed by the experience.

Other Santa Special services will be running throughout December on selected days.

Children will get to meet Santa Claus and receive presents from him and his elves, and enjoy festive food from the cafe.

The final services of the year will be the last week of December, Monday 28th to Thursday 31st.

This provides an excellent opportunity to take a ride through Exmoor after the festivities of Christmas, while enjoying the winter scenery.

As 2027 rolls in, further Work Weekends have been announced for Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th January and Friday 19th to Sunday 21st March.

These weekends ensure the upkeep and maintenance of all the railway assets, from track and signalling to buildings and rolling stock, preparing them for next season.
