After releasing several tasters in advance, Train Sim World 7 (TSW7) is available on Steam and on other platforms from Tuesday 15 September.

Players can choose between the ICE 4 and its modern cab, the rattling and powerful GP49H-3, or the fishbowled Class 333.

Depending on the platform they are using, a player can access any compatible content at different times.

  • Steam – all compatible content is available during Early Access to install and play in TSW7
  • XBOX, PlayStation and Epic Games – compatible content will be available to install and play from Tuesday at 4pm BST for console and 6pm BST for Epic Games.

Among TSW7’s features are Beginner Controls (or Simple Controls) designed for new players and experienced players starting new traction.

The Controls consist of four buttons for two sliders: Brake and Power.

Dovetail Games has assured players that it is not removing the high-level simulation. Players can toggle between this and Beginner Controls.

TSW7 also features Freight Hauler, a brand-new game mode that allows players to move freight freely around their favourite routes. Players select the route from the Main Menu, select Freight Hauler mode, and begin loading.

Freight cars will be distributed across the route, waiting for players to choose their train, find the freight, set their path and go.

The in-game map displays details of each freight car, and the new Freight Hauler debrief screen summarises the player’s score.

Train Sim World also a new highest-tier graphical setting in Train Sim World: Epic!

This allows high-end PC systems to utilise better graphic quality, with extended draw distances and improved shadow distance and quality. Extended LOD ranges reduce asset pop-in.

Players can configure the settings individually, enabling them to prioritise aspects that are most important to them.

A separate enhanced lighting toggle allows players to adjust the lighting profile to create a more balanced and striking image. In addition, light rays will filter through trees and other scenery, giving extra depth and atmosphere.

TSW7 comes with native DirectX 12 support, giving better compatibility with modern graphics cards and better performance in some areas. DLSS 4.5 and FSR4 Upscaling allow players to improve visual clarity.

Photo Mode allows players to capture and save screenshots and enter them for Railshots competitions and on in-game loading screens.

Players can see the weather forecast with the new Live Weather feature, and the Dynamic Weather feature has been overhauled.

There are improvements to Temporary Speed Restrictions and Loading Times.

The new game interface is smoother and cleaner, making it easier to navigate.

Following the launch, seven new Add-ons will be made available.
