Steam Sounds Supreme has announced the release of a new BR Standard Class 5 Sound Pack.

The sounds of a BR Standard Class 5 are much improved from the previous version and have been achieved by re-recording the sounds of a BR Standard Class 5MT at work on the West Somerset Railway.

The new sound pack includes reproductions of:

  • New exhaust sounds;
  • Simulations of pilot and main valve sounds;
  • Loops for higher speeds;
  • A variety of standard and chime whistle sounds;
  • Sounds of engines coasting and their valve gear;
  • Injectors;
  • Safety valves.

As well as upgraded sounds, the pack includes new scenarios for both main line and heritage operations.

The original BR Standard Class 5 sound pack included named ‘King Arthur’ variants and No. 73050 City of Peterborough, and they have been retained in the new pack.

For players with Just Trains’ BR Standard Class 5MT Advanced, this new sound pack will enhance the playing experience.

The previous Class 5 sound pack will not be withdrawn, so players have the choice to upgrade or stay with the original. The new Black 5 sound pack is not a full sound pack, and that is reflected in its price of £5.50.

Other sound packs released by Steam Sounds Supreme this year include an LMS 3F’Jinty 0-6-0 tank engine.

RailAdvent Plus members can enjoy an exclusive discount when purchasing Steam Sounds Supreme products.
