Fans of American Railroad simulators on Dovetail Games can now access a second scenario pack featuring the Baltimore & Ohio Mountain subdivision.

Continuing from its previous scenario pack, set in 1965, the pre-Chessie system era, the scenarios available in the second pack cover runs along the demanding, steeply graded and twisting orgional 101-mile line across the Alleghany Mountains between Cumberland and Grafton known as the ‘West End’.

The route will test any driver’s ability with careful handling, banking and braking assistance to skillfully negotiate the notoriously steep Newburg, Cheat River, Cranbury and Seventeen Mile gradients along the route.

Featuring classic diesel power on heavy-laden coal trains of the time, each of the ten scenarios in this second pack is based on orgional workings from the 60s and 70s, including driving loaded and empty coal trains, pick-up and drop-off local freight duties.

Featuring EMD F7, GP7, EMD SD & GP35 and RF16 locomotives, other duties include the Keyser Turn, a local pick-up duty through the wintry scenery between Cumberland Terminal and Terr Alta. The Alleghany Rollercoaster features several sawtooth gradients in quick succession as drivers work empty wagons back to the mines in West Virginia and a local transfer working ‘Empties to Austin’. There is also the Georges Creek Black Diamonds scenario, where drivers can take a loaded train from the sidings at Knobmount to Cumberland.

Players are advised that the B&O Mountain Subdivision Retro Pack, the Western Maryland Railway Retro Pack and the Cumberland – Grafton route add-on will be needed to perform all ten scenarios in the pack. Fortunately, Dovetail Games has a new B&O Mountain Subdivision bundle on Steam, where fans can buy add-ons together and save money in the process.
